An autism or ADHD assessment is a careful piece of work, and we take the time to do it properly. That said, thorough does not have to mean overwhelming. We break the process into clear, manageable steps and explain each one before it happens, so there are no surprises.

You can move through the stages at a pace that suits you. Questionnaires are completed in your own time, appointments are arranged around your availability, and you are welcome to ask questions at any point along the way.

The process

Six steps, start to finish

From your first message to a personalised set of recommendations, here is exactly how an assessment unfolds.

Get in touch

You can refer yourself directly — no GP referral is needed. After a short enquiry, we confirm that an assessment is the right next step and agree the pathway that fits you, whether that is autism, ADHD, or a combined assessment.

Intake & questionnaires

You complete a secure online history and a set of validated questionnaires at your own pace. These build a detailed picture of your development, strengths and day-to-day experiences before we meet, so the clinical time is well spent.

Clinical interview

An in-depth, structured assessment with your psychologist explores your history and current experiences in detail. Where it is helpful, we also gather collateral information from a partner, parent or teacher who knows you well.

Multidisciplinary review

The clinical team weighs all of the evidence together — questionnaires, interview and any collateral — rather than relying on a single source. This shared, multidisciplinary review supports a careful and balanced conclusion.

Report & feedback

You receive a detailed written report setting out the findings and the reasoning behind them, plus a dedicated feedback session to talk it through, ask questions and make sure everything is clear.

Recommendations & support

We finish with personalised next steps and signposting, and we explain clearly what a diagnosis — or the absence of one — means for you, so you leave with practical direction rather than just a label.

What to expect

The practical details

A few of the questions people most often ask before they begin.

How long it takes

From referral to feedback typically takes [typical timescale to confirm]. Much of that time is yours — completing questionnaires and arranging appointments — and we keep you updated at each stage.

Where it happens

Assessments are offered remotely across the UK, so you can take part from home. In-person appointments are also available at [location to confirm] if you would prefer to meet face to face.

Who can be involved

With your consent, the people who know you best can contribute — a partner, a family member, or a child's parents and school. Their perspective often adds valuable context to the picture.

Not every assessment ends in a diagnosis, and that is a meaningful outcome in itself. Even if the criteria are not met, you still receive a thorough clinical formulation that makes sense of your experiences, along with clear recommendations and signposting for support.
